Washington trip update… 5/11

Finally, I’m getting a chance to update this blog.  We’ve been very busy since we left Greenville Monday morning.  First of all, we  were told we would miss our flight from Greenville to Newark NJ.  The woman behind the United desk told me we wouldn’t arrive in Seattle until nearly 7 PM.  That was when I was supposed to preach!  So…  I argued and pleaded and finally she allowed me to leave my wife and baby standing there and run and try to catch the plane.  I did.  Grace and Zane sat there for another 3 1/2 hours and caught the next flight to Newark.  So…we traveled separate.  She arrived during the Monday night service.  I arrived at lunch so I had plenty of time to prepare for church.  Especially since Grace had all my clothes.  I had to go shopping once I arrived to have something to wear!!  I hate airports and I hate TSA.  Anyway, by Monday night, we were reunited and hit the RESET button.  The meeting Monday night was great.  Berean Baptist Church was hosting the monthly Pastor’s Fellowship meeting.  We had services the next morning also, and God blessed the preaching of His Word.  Tuesday night, they didn’t have services, so the pastor took me to a Seattle Mariners baseball game.  We had a great time together, even though the Mariners lost to the Detroit Tigers 6 to 4.

The services Wednesday night and last night were a blessing.  Grace and I have been singing and I don’t know if it is the weather, but my voice has been very dry and raspy.  The weather here has been weird too.  Cold actually.  It got down to the 40′s yesterday.  It’s supposed to be in the 80′s this weekend.  That’s murder on your voice.   And I left my overcoat at home, so coming out of church after preaching in the night air has probably not been good either.

Yesterday, Pastor Reno and his wife Amy took us downtown Seattle, where they treated us to a monorail ride and a trip to the top of the Space Needle.  We also went down to the famous fish market and the home of the very first Starbucks.  I’ve added some pictures of our trip.  Please continue to pray for us that God will use this meeting to change hearts and lives.
