Preaching/Teaching Festival Was a BLESSING! Print E-mail
At PVCA we're always looking for a way to stretch our students! Our goal is to help them realize the many opportunities there are to serve the Lord, and to help them see what God can do with each one of them. Starting last school year (06-07), we added Bible teaching/preaching to our events at the state festival. In preparation for those categories, we held an "in-house" festival to help them prepare. Last year's event was so blessed of God, we wondered what to expect this year, but we were not disappointed.

The students had worked very hard, and the seriousness with which each one approached this "project" was a tremendous blessing. This year, due to a slightly smaller number of participants, we were able to have the two categories, teaching/preaching, combined. The men who were evaluating the fellows thoroughly enjoyed hearing the girls' Sunday school lessons. And the ladies who were here to evaluate the young ladies' lessons were blessed by the messages that the young men prepared!

Our desire is to train young people to serve God with a pure heart. We want our ladies to realize that their greatest mission field will be the children God may graciously place into their care one day in the future. We want all of our young men, whether or not they have experienced a specific call to preach the gospel, to be well-equipped to rightly divide the Word. The growth we saw in many of these young people from last year to this was a great encouragement to everyone involved in the event! To God be the glory!

Many thanks to Pastor and Mrs. Shiflett, Mrs. Gazaway (Pleasant View Boy's Academy), Brother John Mark Turner (Calvary Baptist in Greer), and Mrs. Bev Doherty (former PVCA teacher and Christian educator) for their input into these young lives.
