PVCA High School Students Do Well at Festival! Print E-mail

The 9-12 grade students at PVCA will be at the BJU High School Fine Arts Festival this week in Greenville. They will compete in the areas of speech, vocal ensemble, piano solo, and art.

Please remember the students as they seek to develop their gifts and talents for use in the Lord's work.

"Only one life, 'twill soon be past. Only what's done for Christ will last."

WEDNESDAY UPDATE

The young people have done exceptionally well this week!

After last year's graduation, we took mostly 9th and 10th graders this year, but they have ALL stepped up to the plate, and we are thankful for their progress and their great attitudes. They have had a great week all the way around.

Mrs. Pegram was very pleased with both the small and the large vocal ensemble. They have laid some excellent ground work for progress this year.

All of the students achieved at a higher level than they thought possible with their speech entries. Three of them advanced to the next round! Lindsey Jones made it to the semi-final round in Dramatic and Narrative Literature. This is the only speech category with semi-final rounds, and that is due to the large number of entries. So Lindsey is to be commended for her excellent work.

Daniel Ault advanced to finals with his very powerful presentation of David's lament over the deaths of Saul and Jonathan. Congratulations, Daniel! We are proud of your progress!

Adam Raynes advanced to finals in Poetry with his rendition of The Mountain Whipporwill, a very fitting piece for Adam about a country boy who won first place in the Georgia Fiddler's Show. Shortly after finals, we were notified that Adam had won first place and would be performing in the Honors Recital at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday night in front of approximately 2,000 people. Congratulations, Adam, on a job well-done! Do well on Thursday night!

We are very grateful to the parents for giving us the privilege of working with these young people, and we appreciate the hard work of the students! Most of all, we thank God for blessing us with these wonderful opportunities.
