On Saturday, February 3, the four PVCA and PVBC teams wrapped up another year of Bible Quizzing. This year we had a record number of quizzers sign up to participate, and we fielded four teams in the Piedmont Quizzing Association. Despite several obstacles earlier in the season, nearly all of the students have improved steadily throughout the year, and there is already a good level of interest in the upcoming season!
PQA is made up of thirty-two teams and nearly 175 quizzers. At the end of season tournament Pleasant View received the following recognition:
Top Quizzers: Jessica Backer and Natalie Raynes (a group of 32 quizzers ranked according to performance for the entire year).
Seniors: Natalie Raynes (7 years) and David Viers (6 years).
Fourth Highest Team on the PACT (a written test over Hebrews and I, II Peter) - PV Discerners - Jessica Backer, Starla Townsend, Crystal Townsend, and Cherith Riley - Coach Sharon Johnson
Fifth Highest Sponsor on the PACT - Michael Townsend - Coach of PV Mighty Men
At the tournament the Ambassadors had a close, tough loss in the early rounds then began the afternoon with two exciting wins over Athens 1 and Greenville Blue. The tournament ended for Pleasant View shortly thereafter with a heartbreaking loss to a very solid team from Faith Baptist. Natalie Raynes ended the day and her senior year with a 19-1 performance, quizzing out in three of the team's four quizzes.
Regardless of statistics, ALL of the young people and their coaches have benefited from the blessing of studying the rich books of Hebrews and I and II Peter. God's Word does not return void, and Joshua 1:8 promises, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein. For then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."
