The PVBC family has enjoyed the rich blessings of God over the past several days. Our last service in the temporary auditorium, completion of the sanctuary renovation, setting up of the "new" auditorium, preparations for the Morgan/Bane wedding, and our first Sunday in the new auditorium made for a busy but wonderful weekend!
Wednesday, January 9 marked the last service in our temporary auditorium. The service was wonderful, as the church family sang and worshipped God. The youth choir was particularly used of God to bless His people. Then Bro. Matthew Morgan brought a tremendous message on the mind that God used to speak to hearts.
Immediately after the service, the church family pitched in and began moving much of the church furniture back into the yet-unfinished sanctuary. Then, from Wednesday night until Saturday afternoon, folks worked almost around the clock finishing the renovations, cleaning, setting up for the wedding and the reception, and preparing the church for the Lord's Day! So many folks helped, and all of the work was marked by a sweet spirit and good fellowship. Anyone who was here was blessed by the willing efforts of everyone just doing their part!
On Saturday afternoon, January 12, Bro. Matthew Morgan and Sis. Rebecca Bane were united in marriage. What a joy it was to see God sanction another Christian home with His divine presence. The songs, the prayers, and the exhortation from Rebecca's father, Evangelist Randy Bane, were annointed! The entire service honored God. The reception was a sweet time for family and friends to fellowship and reflect on God's hand in Matthew and Rebecca's lives. Many folks, including several men of God, came to the microphone to tell how they had seen God develop these two fine young adults into what they are today, and to exhort them to stay with God. The entire afternoon and evening reflected the goodness of our God, and we were thankful that He honored their wedding with His presence!
Sunday was a special day at PVBC. God's people came in with full hearts, and He met with us once again! The Sunday School hour was filled with testimonies and worship as we thanked God for all He has done in our behalf. The hour closed with altar prayer. Then, after a short break, the 11:00 service began, and we picked up where we left off! The breath of God was upon the congregational music, and we enjoyed worshipping Him as He annointed the choir; preparing hearts for a tremendous message by Pastor Shiflett on "Some Things That Will Never Change."
Sunday night was a tremendous ending to the blessed weekend. The youth choir sang with a wonderful touch of God, and the church family rejoiced as they sang, "So Much To Thank Him For", "He's Still Passing By", and "But For the Blood". Then Pastor Shiflett continued his series on spiritual maturity reminding us that God has not given us all of these blessings and truth just so we can rejoice in it! We have an obligation to pass it on. The only ministries that will remain true to our heritage of "old-time religion" are those that are vigilant about passing it on to others around them and to the next generation. It does not happen by accident! "To whom much is given, much is required," and surely we have received much from the hand of God. May He give us the wisdom to preserve it AND to pass it on!
Psalm 126:2,3 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
