Sunday, August 19, 2007, was a special day at PVBC. The church family honored Pastor Shiflett, Mrs. Grace, and their children for a wonderful first year. Dr. Don Green from Lansing, Michigan, was our guest speaker, and he preached in the power of the Holy Spirit. God truly used him to speak to our hearts. We were blessed, encouraged, and convicted!

In addition to the regular song service, special music in each service honored the pastor's wife as well Pastor Shiflett and Dr. Green for their faithfulness to God's call. A special dinner was held in Pastor's honor, and we also had a good time of fellowship after the evening service. A highlight of the Sunday evening service was the recognition Pastor Shiflett gave to Dr. Green as a "Defender of the Gospel." God's Word commands us to give "honor to whom honor" is due, and it was a blessing to see our pastor honor this great man of God.

The church family made presentations to the Shifletts in the Sunday morning service to show them how much we appreciate their love and leadership.

Most importantly of all, however, was the fact that God met with us! We appropriately honored our man of God, but the praise, adoration, and worship went to our Saviour alone, and we thank Him for His sweet touch in both services.

Truly, "God hath done great things for us, whereof we are glad."
