On Tuesday, November 4, over 1,000 people walked through the doors of the PVBC fellowship hall to vote! God allowed us to use that opportunity to reach out to our community.
The church family had signed up to work 2-hour shifts manning the hospitality and resource tables. The hospitality table had a variety of snacks and drinks, while the resource table had copies of John/Romans, tracts, brochures, and CDs of a salvation message recently preached by Pastor Shiflett.
The kindness of the church family generated a great response from the voters as they passed through. Many tracts, CDs, and John/Romans were received getting the Word of God into hands and hearts! His Word will not return void.
A special blessing of the day was the opportunity to meet the coordinator of a blood drive held in our county in honor of a slain highway patrolman. When she saw the tract, "Help Is On The Way" aimed at law enforcement and emergency personnel and read about the Public Servants Day coming up in January, she invited us to come to the blood drive and set up a booth promoting the special service here on January 11! In addition, another of the voters was the fire chief from a local department, and he said he would help us promote the event to the 60+ men who work under him! Finally, a manager from Firehouse Subs (an establishment that supports local firefighters) asked us to bring postcards and posters promoting the event. Pastor took those on Saturday, and this store manager is also helping us promote the special day!
Brother Shiflett has had a special burden to reach out to law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency personnel, and it is exciting to see God at work. Please join with us in prayer as we minister to these folks who risk their lives for us day after day.
