Late Summer Overview Print E-mail

June and July were busy with Camp Meeting, Junior Camp at PVBC, and our teen's trip to Teen Camp at Galilee Baptist in Monroe, NC, but the pace was only going to pick up as summer drew to a close!

August began with a teen mission trip to Aguascalientes, Mexico. We had planned, prayed, and prepared for ten months, and the Lord did a great work in us and with us during this trip. To God be the glory.  We left PVBC on Sunday night, August 3 and arrived at Bro. Clark Paquette's home in Pabellon de Arteaga in the state of Aguascalientes on Tuesday evening, August 5.

We spent the next six days visiting, working at the church, preparing and handing out evangelism packets, and doing a little sightseeing along the way. In addition we visited four different mission churches/Bible study groups in the surrounding area. The entire visit was absolutely incredible, and God really touched our hearts. The young people are still talking about what God did for them. We saw souls saved as a result of our labors, and just two weeks ago, Bro. Paquette called to say that another three people had trusted Christ as a result of the outreach while we were there!

The Pleasant View Boy's Academy has added another fellow all the way from Oregon. Please pray that God will work in his life. In addition, the Gazaway's, our directors, are expecting their fourth child. Pray for this family as they raise their boys and work with those God sends our way.

Pleasant View Christian Academy has started year number 16, and we continue to see God use the school to be a blessing to dedicated Christian parents and young people who have a desire to live for God. This year's student body is extremely energetic, but they have a good spirit about them, and we are expecting great things from God this year.

The Lord has added several new families to the church in the past 6-8 weeks, and others continue to visit. The services have been very sweet, with plenty of liberty to worship God and get help from His Word! Just a couple weeks ago, we had a visiting teen-age boy saved, and on this past Sunday, the young daughter of one of our "regular" visiting families came to know Christ!

Pastor's series on Sunday nights from I Corinthians 13 has been a great blessing to the church family as we've slowed down and just gone verse by verse examining our spiritual life in light of the tremendous truths found in this chapter.

On Monday, September 15, Pleasant View Baptist Institute began classes with fifteen students in attendance. The church family is excited to see what God may do with this open door. A special blessing was the knowledge that at the same time, Spanish Bible lessons were going on in another room here at the church at the request of our Hispanic believers!

Summer has nearly ended, and we're excited about what God has in store for us this fall. Next up, Operation GLOBE and our annual World Missions Conference in early October!
