Many Christians spend so much time in the past, it makes you wonder if God is still working in their life today! We should certainly remember the blessings He has bestowed upon us, the trials He has brought us through, and the lessons we have learned, but praise God, our Heavenly Father is alive and well TODAY!
In addition to telling our children what God HAS done, they need to see Him at work in our lives, our families, and our churches in the present tense. Bless His name, we can see Him working here at Pleasant View Baptist!
This past Sunday, Pastor Shiflett preached two tremendous messages. In the Sunday morning service, he preached with power and passion from the gospels, comparing the tragic outcomes of Judas and Pilate. There were sinners in the service, and we will be continuing to reach out to these folks, praying that the Holy Spirit will soften their hearts, and that they will soon be saved. Then on Sunday night, Pastor began a tremendous series from I Corinthians 13. Our hearts were blessed and convicted all at the same time, but how we praise God for the power of the Word to change us into HIS image! Both services were blessed with freedom and liberty to worship God in Spirit and in truth.
On Sunday night, the church family was blessed to hear from Brother Brian Coates with Anchor Baptist Missions from Pisgah Forest, NC, as he shared his burden for the lost.
This Sunday was also special because the church family honored Pastor and Mrs. Grace as they celebrated thirteen years of marriage! The church family will be sending them off for a romantic getaway soon. It is our desire to help them build a strong, loving, lasting marriage that will be a blessing to other families and young couples here in the church.
During the evening fellowship for the Shiflett's anniversary, the church family took time to say goodbye to one of our Hispanic brothers who is returning to Mexico. He gave a wonderful testimony of salvation and thanksgiving to the Lord and his new family here at PVBC! Please pray for this dear brother as he seeks to reconcile with his family and share his new faith in Jesus Christ.
To God be the glory, there were visitors in both services, and we could see evidence of lives that are being changed by the power of God. Most importantly, He met with us, and we left saying it was GOOD to be in the house of the Lord.
This week several of our young people are at teen camp at the Galilee Baptist Church in Monroe, NC, where Brother Andy Wells is the pastor. We are trusting God to give them a great week of good fellowship and tremendous services.
