Dear Fellow-laborer:
After another busy, fruitful summer, fall always seems to give us the opportunity to get back to a slightly normal schedule. God has opened new doors of opportunity for us here at Pleasant View, and I hope you are seeing Him work as well. This fall God has literally placed in my lap an opportunity to provide more intense discipleship and Bible training right here at the church.
While this desire has been in my heart ever since arriving at Pleasant View (and before), His timing was amazing. Over the course of the past two months, visitors, long-term members, new members, and even Hispanics expressed their desire and need for more training in the Scriptures! God brought the details together, and as of this writing, classes are set to begin with at least fifteen students! Please keep this new venture in your prayers!
The boys in the home had a good summer. One has had extensive testing to provide us with useful information that will help us meet his educational needs. Then just one week into the new school year, we got a new boy, all the way from the state of Oregon! He has adjusted quite well, and we are glad that the Lord sent him our way. All three boys are very settled (most of the time!) and are doing well. Please pray for Jeff, Mark, and Timothy. The Academy has needed a larger vehicle for some time. The Gazaways are expecting their fourth child, so their family combined with the Academy boys have resulted in a transportation problem. They just recently found a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban for $5,500. Please pray about helping toward this need with a one time love offering. You may also want to pray about supporting this ministry monthly if you haven't already done so. Any financial support toward this ministry would be a great investment. We do appreciate the work of this family and would ask you to lift them up before the Lord. They acknowledge often that they need the wisdom of the Lord.
As always, please pray for the boy's home ministry that God will richly bless, send us the boys we can truly help, and provide everything we need to meet their needs. We find great encouragement when we remember that Jesus said that when we, "Have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
I pray for many of you regularly and would ask you to do the same for us. Over the next twelve months, we are celebrating the 75 years God has given us here at PVBC. Our burning desire is to be standing faithful when Jesus comes back for His church!
Serving the Lord with Gladness,
Pastor Stacey Shiflett
