An important part of providing the very best in Christian education is keeping your sword sharp! On Thursday and Friday, September 20 and 21, the PVCA faculty were able to do just that. The annual teacher's convention was held in Spartanburg, SC this year, and we enjoyed workshops on a wide variety of topics.

Saturday, September 1, was the kick-off for our Fall emphasis on reaching more souls for Christ. Pastor Shiflett has named this outreach, Operation Harvest. Surely anyone who is saved can look around and see the multitudes of folks all around them who need the Lord. There is a harvest of souls, and we should be about our Father's business. What is the Father's business? Jesus answered that question when he said, "For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost."
There are many facets to this PVBC outreach, and a large percentage of the church family from young adults through senior citizens are involved. It a blessing to see so many pitch in and do their part.
This past Saturday was an exciting day, and we experienced everything you expect when invading enemy territory! God blessed, however, with some very good visits, and we believe we will see some of these folks saved. Nothing that is worthwhile comes easy, and certainly laboring for souls is no exception. It is God Who gives the increase, and that truth brings tremendous blessing and peace.
Acts 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, tat by the space of three years I ceased not to warn everyone night and day with tears.

Hello from Santarem!
It has been awhile since we have sent out any pictures or even an update on how things are going here. We have been staying busy and trying to get things ready to start classes at the Bible Institute again here in a few days. The church is going good. We have a national that is praying about taking the work here. Werlesson will be one of our first graduates from the Bible Instituite in December. Please help us pray about this. We feel like the church is ready for...

We praise the Lord for a wonderful day in the house of God. The day began with praise to God as the congregation sang, "It Will Be Worth it All When We See Christ" during opening assembly. From there to a great Sunday School hour and then back into the sanctuary to sing, worship God, and get fed from His Word. Brother Shiflett brought a tremendous message from the book of Esther on, "A Good Day." While the day had already started out good, little did we know what God had in store for us this evening.
The evening started with a well-attended class in preparation for Operation Harvest. Our church family is excited, and the devil is fighting, as we prepare to do our very best to help others come to know our Saviour. Then, during the song service, Bro. Jack Holden, our Hispanic Ministries Director, came in the back door of the auditorium looking like a proud father coming from the delivery room! One of our newest guests to the Hispanic classes and services had just trusted Christ as his Saviour during the Spanish service which had begun at 5:00 P.M. This new brother in Christ gave his testimony to the church, and it blessed our hearts to hear him thank God for salvation and the peace in his heart.
Pastor Shiflett recognized the school faculty for their faithfulness, then he preached a tremendous message in his series on the home using Proverbs 14:1 and Proverbs 31 as his text. The message was a blessing and a help to the ladies in particular.
First time visitors were present in both services, and we praise God for His work in our midst.

Psalm 39:4, "Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am."
David's prayer in this psalm reminds us of the frailty and brevity of our days on this earth. David's son Solomon came to the sad conclusion that, "All is vanity." Thankfully, he didn't stop there, but realizing, just like his father had, that this temporal life was not all there is, he went on to say, "Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth." That is why Pleasant View Christian Academy exists. Our purpose is to help young people remember their Creator.
The guiding theme for this school year is, "Will What You Do TODAY Matter in Eternity?" Pastor Shiflett has challenged us ever since he came here with the soberness of a quote that gripped him one day. That quote by Dr. Charles Keen was, "I'm not worried about being a failure. I'm worried about being a success at something that is not important to God."
With God's help we will seek to give our young people the best, sharpest tools we can, so that they can serve God and invest their life in something that WILL matter in eternity.

Pleasant View Bible quiz teams had a very good start for the new quiz season this past Saturday at Faith Baptist in Taylors. PV-Chosen went 2-0 and PV-Heirs went 1-1. Adam Raynes started the year 9-1 and is currently ranked 10th in the league. Starla Townsend went 8-2 and is ranked in the top 25 along with Nathaniel Ogle and Crystal Townsend.
In the elementary division, the Little Servants went 2-0 while their counterparts, the PV-Proclaimers struggled to a 0-2 start for the season. We are confident these young quizzers will get their bearings soon and will be a strong team as well. Timothy Backer finished the day in second place, while Rocky Cline finished at 5th place, Seth Townsend at 6th, and David Riley and Lucas Adkins tied for 10th in the individual standings.
These young people, and all of their teammates, are to be commended for their excellent work!
