Dear Friends and Supporters:
As we enter the Christmas season, we are reminded of the sacrificial gift of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. I love the words to the song, “That Story Will Never Grow Old.” Even though I’ve known him as my personal Saviour since early childhood, I never get tired of hearing about what He did for us when He came to this sin-cursed earth to redeem us.

Paul warned the church at Galatia in chapter 5, verse 15, "But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another." Surely the greatest tool to enable "biting and devouring" of one another has been the invention of the world-wide-web. Christians appear to be the leaders in utilizing technology for this purpose. While independent Baptists have long had a reputation for "shooting their wounded", apparently the problem is growing. Our local paper recently had an article discussing the Southern Baptist Convention's dilemma over how to handle the public airing (via the internet) of private disagreements between brothers in Christ.

The PVBC family truly has SO much to be thankful for! God's Word tells us that is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and surely He is worthy! Anyone who has walked with the Lord for any length of time knows how faithful He is in the difficult times. If that is so, how much more should we praise Him for the good things He does for us and for the abundance of His blessings!
This past week, another family joined the church, and we are thankful for that. We have had visitors in every service for several weeks, some of whom are lost and in need of a Saviour! Our pastor continues to preach to us in the power of the Holy Spirit, and we never leave PVBC hungry. Every message is a blessing, but in particular, the continuing series on the home has ministered to SO MANY families. The disintegration of the Christian home in the past 30 years has been devastating, and God's Word has the answers. We are all so thankful for the simple truth we have been receiving to help us build families for His glory!

Mrs. Cathy Smith, wife of Bro. Robbie Smith, serving in Brazil for over 25 years, received word this week that her parents' home had burned to the ground. Please pray for the Anders family during this time. Mrs. Cathy also needs our prayers as it is difficult to be so far from family when you know they are going through a hard time.
Below is a link to a local news service that carried the story.

It is a great joy to see Annabeth acting like a normal baby. She acts the same as a baby that was born at about the same time that she finally woke up and started responding to the medication. She is able to take a bottle, and only requires a little help with slight pressure on her cheeks if she is tired. She can hold up her head very well, now, and is very strong. You have to keep a good hold on her or she will be out of your arms. She also has a very good set of lungs!

The outreach ministries here at home have experienced the blessings of God in recent weeks as well as the opposition that comes from Satan when we are trying to reach souls for Christ.
The prison and detention center ministries have been blessed with new folks signing up to go and witness, hold Bible studies, and preach.

The first week of November has been richly blessed by God this week at Pleasant View! The Lord's Day was tremendous as we enjoyed His presence, had visitors in both services, and had one to join the church on Sunday night!
Then on Tuesday night, Pastor Shiflett and a group from the church went to Inman, SC, to be with Brother Biggs and the folks at Cornerstone Baptist. God met with us and used Brother Shiflett to help that good pastor and his people. God moved in a special way during the invitation, and we had the joy of seeing one young girl saved! There is joy in heaven when one repents, and there was joy in the house of God, too!
On Wednesday, God annointed the service from the opening song, and we just enjoyed His power and presence! Pastor preached a tremendous message on walking with God, and we left knowing we had been with our Lord. Praise the Lord, Wednesday night at PVBC, we just "go to church!" No wonder David said, "I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord!"
